Each brand needs to shine with personality. That doesn't mean it can't have a cold corporation feel because that's a type of personality too. What I mean is that you cant be a bland oyster cracker in a world full of yummy cracker snacks with salami, pickles, and cheese. Lets figure out how to get you started.

1.) Get a list of company values

Do not hit the drawing board just yet! Let's take a step back and see what your brand is all about. Common brand values I run into are family friendly, high tech, accountable, health, and exclusivity.

If my clients are struggling to pinpoint their exact values I walk them through something like this: What do you want your customer to feel when working with you? Like they are in a safe place for their kids? They are part of an exclusive club for elite members? Or even something as simple as being reminded of their little home town?

2.) Color the mood

Take those emotions and quantify them into phrases and single words. Take these and start looking at colors that match the mood created by your values. Once you have at least one color down I like to put it into my favorite website, coolers.co and create a color scheme for the brand.

3.) Time to hit the drawing board

Get a couple doodles down. This process is very fun because you get to express your creative side which I always encourage. Now that you have a rough rendition it's time to hit up an artist to not only improve your vision, but vectorize it too!

What you want from the artist is a couple of things. Your logo of course but some don't provide these staple items: black & white versions, if it has text on the bottom have a version with just the image no text, and vector + PNG files.

Now you got yourself a logo! Next step is to get it out into the world for everyone to enjoy and appreciate.
