Having Your Personality Shine Through Your Business.

Updated: Apr 24

Before you hit the drawing board, take a step back and ask yourself: what is your brand really about? A great logo isn’t just art, it’s your brand’s identity, distilled into a single image. Let’s walk through how to design a logo that truly fits you.

1. Know Your Brand Values First

Don’t start sketching just yet. First, get clear on your brand’s personality and values. Some of the most common brand traits I encounter include:

  • Family friendly

  • High tech

  • Health focused

  • Accountable

  • Exclusive

If you're not sure where you land, ask yourself: What do I want my customers to feel when they interact with my brand?

Should they feel like:

  • Their kids are safe and welcome?

  • They’re entering an elite, members-only space?

  • They’re reconnecting with the charm of a small hometown?

Once you nail the feeling, the rest flows more naturally.

2. Color the Mood

Next, translate those feelings into colors.

Write out a list of single words or short phrases that describe the emotional tone of your brand. Then, start exploring color palettes that align with those words. Think of colors as the mood-setters for your brand.

Once you’ve locked in at least one key color, head over to coolors.co to generate a full color scheme. This tool makes it easy to build a cohesive palette around your vibe.

3. Now Hit the Drawing Board

Now it’s time to get creative. Start doodling your ideas, even if you’re not an artist, this step helps you visualize and express your unique style.

Once you’ve got a rough concept, it’s time to bring in a professional designer. They’ll refine your vision and create a clean, scalable version of your logo.

Make sure your designer provides the essentials:

  • A full-color version of the logo

  • A black and white version

  • A version with just the image (no text, if applicable)

  • High-resolution files: PNG and vector formats like SVG or AI

You’ve Got a Logo. Now Use It

Congrats! You now have a logo that reflects your values, evokes emotion, and looks amazing. Next step? Start putting it out into the world, your website, social media, business cards, packaging, and more.

Your logo is more than just a design. It’s your brand’s handshake. Make it count.
